By Jeff Caraska

Former Rocklin High School softball standout pitcher Britany Linton leads Saint Mary's with a 10-8 record. The junior right-hander has a team-best 2.61 ERA, 59 strikeouts and 110 innings pitched. The Gaels, who played in the NCAA Tournament last season, are 11-23 overall and 7-9 in the Pacific Coast Softball Conference.

Saint Mary's will look to break a three-game losing streak Saturday against visiting Santa Clara.

Last spring, Linton, 17-13 with a 2.70 ERA, was a unanimous choice as the PCSC's Coastal Division Player of the Year as the Gaels won their first conference championship. Linton was 7-1 in conference play and led the Gaels with 97 strikeouts.

As a freshman in 2009, Linton received All-PCSC honorable mention recognition. She was 8-13 with a team-leading 2.38 ERA.

Linton was 22-6 as a senior at Rocklin with 0.39 ERA and 158 strikeouts. She batted .286 with 19 RBIs and was named her team's MVP and second-team All-Metro. Linton also was a three-time All- Sierra Foothill League player.
