Davis falls to No. 3; Rio Americano climbs to No. 8 in soccer poll

Davis' 1-0 Delta Valley Conference loss to Franklin of Elk Grove May 3 wasn't as painful as expected as far as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America rankings are concerned.

The Blue Devils (22-1-1), ranked No. 1 nationally, fell only to third in today's latest NCSAA spring rankings, the fourth of the season.

Rio Americano (16-0-0) climbs one spot to No. 8.

Neuqua Valley (21-0-0) of Naperville, Ill., moves into first and Wando (21-1-0) of Mount Pleasant, S.C. is now second.

Davis also remains No. 1 in the NSCAA's Region VI rankings. Rio Americano is second, one spot ahead of Arapahoe of Littleton, Colo. Enochs of Modesto is No. 6.

In the latest ESPN Rise Fab 50 spring rankings, Davis is No. 15 and St. Mary's of Stockton is No. 20. Rio Americano isn't ranked.

Neuqua Valley also is ESPN's top team.

Davis is scheduled to play host to Sheldon in today's Sac-Joaquin Section D-I quarterfinals.

Rio Americano plays host to Inderkum in the D-III quarterfinals.

Both matches are set for 4 p.m.
