There was no shame in the long drive and the results.

Sierra College fell to Santa Monica College 5-1 today in the finals of the California Community College Athletic Association State Championship women's match in Fresno.
Sophomore Allie Madson of Del Oro High School had victory for Sierra, winning in No. 6 singles.

The Wolverines finished 15-1 and Santa Monica, with a roster of international players, went 17-1. Sierra won the state title in 2007, reached the state finals in 2009 and claimed Big 8 Conference titles in 2007, 2008, 2010 and this season under coach Steve Dunmore, who said Santa Monica simply "had too much fire power today."

In addition to Madson, Sierra was paced this season by Big 8 All-Conference players Courtnei Chance (Del Campo), Kelsey Chrisco (Granite Bay), Ariana Paradis (Folsom) and Madison White (Del Oro).
