St. Francis, Davis advance to D-I girls soccer quarterfinals

Defending champion St. Francis (13-7-1) and last year's runner-up, Davis (22-1-1), have advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I girls soccer quarterfinals on Tuesday after winning first-round playoff matches today.

Jennie Hawkins, Sarah Sadler and Anna Gilbertson scored goals to lead Davis 3-0 past Will C. Wood of Vacaville. Bobby Reilly, Andrea Damian and Kasey Curtis scored goals to lead St. Francis 3-0 over Elk Grove.

St. Francis will play Monticello Empire League champion Napa and Davis will face Delta River League runner-up Sheldon on Tuesday.

Napa defeated Franklin of Elk Grove 4-1 today. Sheldon defeated Vintage of Napa 3-1 on penalty kicks on Wednesday.

St. Mary's of Stockton, another D-I title favorite, defeated Tracy 6-1 today.
