Two years after he was a first-round draft pick by the Colorado Rockies out of Sacramento State, Tim Wheeler has found a groove.
The centerfielder from El Camino High School now with the Tulsa Drillers was named today as the Texas League Player of the Week.
Wheeler hit safely in all six games his club played in last week. He had two hits in each of the last five games and batted .524 with three home runs and eight RBI. Ten of his at-bats resulted in extra-base hits, with six doubles.
For the season, Wheeler is batting .313 with nine doubles, nine home runs, 30 RBI and seven stolen bases in 115 at-bats.
