Davis finishes No. 5 and No. 7 in final girls national soccer polls

The Davis (25-1-1) girls soccer team earned a top 10 ranking in the final two major girls spring soccer polls.

The Sac-Joaquin Section Division I champions finished No. 5 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America national rankings and were No. 7 in the ESPN RISE Powerade Fab 50.

Davis at one point was the NSCAA national leader until losing 1-0 to Franklin in a Delta Valley Conference match May 3.

The Blue Devils, who ended St. Francis' three-year reign as D-I champions with a 1-0 overtime win in the section final, finished No. 1 in the NSCAA Region VI rankings.

Rio Americano (19-0-0), the D-III section champs, finished No. 12 in the NSCAA national rankings and No. 29 in the ESPN poll.

Rio Americano finished No. 2 behind Davis in the NSCAA Region VI rankings. D-II section champion Granite Bay (15-4-2) was No. 5, finishing behind No. 3 Mountain Vista (16-0-2) and No. 4 Valor Christian (16-1-1), both of Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Novi (22-0-2) of Novi, Mich., finished No. 1 in the ESPN rankings; Cumberland Valley (26-1-0) of Mechanicsburg, Pa., was No. 1 in the NSCAA rankings.
