Nevada Union moves to 2-0 after routing Ponderosa 47-0; defense allows 79 yards

Balanced on offense and unyielding on defense, Nevada Union improved to 2-0 with a 47-0 rout of visiting Ponderosa tonight in a nonleague game in Grass Valley.

Connor Keith scored three rushing touchdowns, Gabe Humphers scored on a 72-yard run, Kyle Cota completed 10 of 14 passes for 169 yards and two scores and the Miners defense allowed 79 yards of offense.

Cota is the impressive junior quarterback and the next fine Miners signal caller, able to run, throw, lead with poise.

Josiah Paye was the quarterback for NU last season but now plays in the secondary and runs the ball. He rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown.

Nevada Union coach Dave Humphers will be a guest on the SureWest Sports Radio Show on Saturday morning from 9-10 a.m. on ESPN1320.
