Oakmont junior Karlie Garcia, using a powerful kick in the final mile, overtook Buchanan's Hagen Reedy on her home course to win the championship race of the Clovis Invitational on Saturday.
Garcia covered the 3.1-mile Woodward Park course - site of the CIF state cross country championships - in 17 minutes, 22 seconds.
Reedy placed second in 17:43 and Vista del Lago's Madeleine Ankhelyi took third in 17:53, helping the Eagles to finish third behind Granada of Livermore and Canyon of Anaheim in the team standings.
Among other meet highlights:
Del Campo placed seventh in the boys championship division. Jordan Rushing led the Cougars with a 16th place finish in 15:46.
Davis won the boys D-I title with Jack Scranton leading the way with a sixth place finish in 15:52.
Granite Bay's Trent Brendel (15:48) finished second and Woodcreek's Tyler Hunter (16:06) fifth and Jonathan Horvath (16:13) sixth in the boys D-II race while Bella Vista placed second and Woodcreek third in the team standings.
Woodcreek's Karina Nunes took second in the girls D-II race to lead the Timberwolves to a fourth-place team finish. Bella Vista took fifth.
