Area stars shine in section football's opening playoff round

Here are 30 top area performances from the first week of the Sac-Joaquin Section football playoffs.

• Isaiah Adams, Grant: Had two interceptions in the Pacers' 38-0 win over Turlock.

• Nick Bermudez, Granite Bay: Had an interception and booted a 30-yard field goal in the Grizzlies' 31-7 win over Napa.

• Chris Cooper, Vista del Lago: Had five catches for 139 yards and three touchdowns in the Eagles' 25-21 win over Woodland.

• Kyle Cota, Nevada Union: Completed 28 of 42 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns in the Miners' 41-16 loss to Franklin.

• Zac Cunha, Roseville: Completed 12 of 31 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns; rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown; and averaged 46 yards in five punts, including a 63-yarder in the Tigers' 54-34 loss to Vacaville.

• Cody Demps, Pleasant Grove: Completed 11 of 16 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 57-13 win over Rodriguez.

• Nathan Di Donato: Had three sacks, giving him 21 for the season, and helped hold Nevada Union to 45 rushing yards in the Wildcats'41-16 win over the Miners.

• Korey Hall, Dixon: Rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries in the Rams' 42-21 loss to Colfax.

• Jake Hofheinz, Nevada Union: Had 11 catches for 181 yards and a touchdown in the Miners' 41-16 loss to Franklin.

• Junior Jenkins, Highlands: Had eight tackles, a sack and returned an interception for a touchdown in the Scots' 36-0 win over Mariposa County.

• Dalen Jones, Woodland: Rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries and also passed for 187 yards in the Wolves' 25-21 loss to Vista del Lago.

• Casey Lambert, Roseville: Rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries and had three receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown in the Tigers' 54-34 loss to Vacaville.

• Carson McMurtrey, Folsom: Had four catches four 200 yards and four touchdowns in the Bulldogs' 56-19 win over Rio Linda.

• James Milan, Del Campo: Rushed for 183 yards and a touchdown in the Cougars' 34-12 win over Downey.

• Brandon Monroe, Del Oro: Rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries in the Golden Eagles' 42-0 win over Sacramento.

• Shay Mueller, Oak Ridge: Rushed for 189 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries in the Trojans' 30-28 win over Burbank.

• D.J. Myart, Inderkum: Rushed for 220 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries and had a 30-yard touchdown reception in the Tigers' 69-14 win over McNair.

• Frankie Patalano, Casa Roble: Caught seven passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for two touchdowns in the Rams' 57-41 win over Benicia.

• Deon Ramson, Elk Grove: Rushed for 176 yards and five touchdowns in the Thundering Herd's 49-0 win over River City.

• Marcus Rios, Cosumnes Oaks: Had two interceptions in the Wolfpack's 14-0 win over Manteca.

• Anthony Rodigo, Del Campo: Rushed for 182 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries in the Cougars' 34-12 win over Downey.

• Jake Rodrigues, Whitney: Completed 10 of 14 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 104 yards and two scores on 14 carries in the Wildcats' 48-21 win over Whitney.

• Mitch Samson, Casa Roble: Completed 12 of 21 passes for 277 yards and four touchdowns in the Rams' 57-41 win over Benicia.

• Logan Smith, Vista del Lago: Had 15 catches for 138 yards to crush the state receiving mark. He has 137 catches, bettering the old mark of 122.

• Brad Spangler, Placer: Rushed for 284 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries in the Hillmen's 48-28 win over Patterson.

• Tanner Trosin, Folsom: Passed for 387 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown in the Bulldogs' 56-19 win over Rio Linda. Trosin also set the section record for total offense with 4,992 yards.

• John Wiernicki, Liberty Ranch: Rushed for 193 yards and four touchdowns in the Hawks' 48-35 win over Calaveras.

• Eddie Vanderdoes, Placer: Had four sacks in the Hillmen's 48-28 win over Patterson.

• Marcus White, Pleasant Grove: Had seven touchbacks on kickoffs in the Eagles' 57-13 win over Rodriguez.

• Aaron Young, Vista del Lago: Completed 28 of 40 passes for 336 yards and three touchdowns in the Eagles' 25-21 win over Woodland.
