An all-Antelope neighborhood battle will highlight the 10-game field for the fifth annual Common Good Classic boys and girls basketball showcase event Jan. 14 and 16 at Antelope High School.
Sac-Joaquin Section D-II runner-up No. 7 Antelope will play section D-III runner-up No. 9 Center in the Jan. 16 7 p.m. boys basketball finale, the last game of the two-day event.
No. 11 Oak Ridge boys will face No. 12 Del Oro in the Jan. 14 7 p.m. nightcap, the last of five games that day.
Also among the 20 teams - 12 boys and eight girls teams - are CIF state D-I girls runners-up Berkeley; 2009-2010 D-I state champion Oak Ridge girls; defending D-I girls section champion St. Francis; and D-II girls section and NorCal runner-ups Del Oro.
"We feel really good about Del Oro-Oak Ridge and Antelope-Center as our marquee matchups," said event organizer Brad Swope. "Antelope-Center will be a great rivalry game."
Antelope, in its third varsity season, lost to Center 61-34 in a non-league game two years ago with juniors only. The two teams did not play last year.
