Boys Top 20: Graham, No. 4 Sac too much for No. 11 Kennedy

It was a battle of Metro Conference boys basketball unbeatens tonight in Oak Park between No. 4 Sacramento and No. 11 Kennedy.

For most of the first half, it was a competitive game.

Then Sac High and senior point guard Darius Graham dialed up the intensity a notch.
Kennedy was left gasping.

With Graham, the UC Davis scholarship signee, hitting four three-pointers and finishing with a game-high 22 points, the Dragons rolled to a 77-39 win.

Shooting 8 of 16 from the floor, Graham made seven of his last nine shots and also was two of three from the foul line.

Junior Joseph Barnes added 16 points and senior Erik Kinney had 10 as the Dragons climbed to 14-5 overall and 6-0 in league.

Thirteen Dragons scored, although seniors Devin Benjamin and Jalen Angel-White did not suit up because they were on a football recruiting trip to San Diego.

Jaylin McQuillon, Ryan Edwards and Derrick West had seven points each for Kennedy (14-5, 5-1).

Sacramento was disappointed with its performance on Monday in falling to Salesian of Richmond 62-41 in the Martin Luther King Classic at UC Berkeley, even though the Pride is ranked No. 1 in Northern California and No. 3 in the state by Cal-Hi Sports.'

Sacramento returned home and beat No. 19 Valley 74-51 in Wednesday's Metro action before dropping Kennedy into second place, a game ahead of Valley and No. 10 Burbank.

Sacramento is trying to regain the Metro title after losing it last season to Burbank.
