Boys Top 20: No. 1 Sheldon soars past No. 3 Pleasant Grove; Ogalue's 34 points helps Laguna Creek stun No. 7 Franklin

The top-ranked Sheldon boys basketball team bounced back from its 39-35 upset loss on Wednesday to No. 12 Oak Ridge in a big way tonight.

Breaking open a close game, the Huskies went on a 19-0 second-half run to defeat No. 3 Pleasant Grove 74-57 in front of a turn-away crowd at Sheldon High School.

Sheldon (16-4, 4-1) junior point guard D'Erryl Williams turned in a dominating performance in finishing with 22 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks.

Dakarai Allen added 16 points, Ryan Manning 12 and Kyi Thomas 11 for Sheldon. Malik Thames topped Pleasant Grove with 22 points.

It was Pleasant Grove's second loss in a row after falling 75-57 to Jesuit on Wednesday. The Eagles (18-3, 3-2) started the season 18-1.

In other games involving Bee boys Top 20 teams:

• Bryce Pressley had 14 points and Parker Uu and Akachi Okugo 13 in No. 2 Jesuit's 67-44 Delta River League win over Folsom. Jesuit (17-4, 4-1) is tied atop the DRL with Sheldon.

• Michael Bryson had 17 points and Kelly Bender 12 as No. 6 Foothill beat Placer 63-47 in a Pioneer Valley League game.

• Barry Ogalue had 34 points and Shaquille Cornelius 21 as Laguna Creek upset No. 7 Franklin 75-66 in a Delta Valley Conference game. Franklin's Theo Johnson had a game-high 37 points.

• Austin Henner had 12 points in leading No. 9 Bella Vista to a 55-38 Capital Valley Conference win over Casa Roble.

• Davit Saghateylan had 19 points in No. 10 Del Campo's 61-54 CVC win over Oakmont.

• Bryce Scott had 24 points in No. 12 Oak Ridge's 62-40 DRL win over Ponderosa.

• Justin Beskeen had 25 points in visiting Bear River's 55-51 win over No. 13 Center. Center played without injured star Christopher Smith.

• Matt Donlan had 27 points in No. 16 Capital Christian's 69-50 Golden Empire League win over West Campus.

• Alex Van Dyke's 17 points lifted No. 20 Cosumnes Oaks to a 52-49 win over River City.
