Sheldon boys basketball moves atop The Bee's Top 20

With its convincing 88-70 win over Jesuit on Friday, Sheldon takes over the No. 1 spot held by the Marauders since The Bee's first top 20 boys basketball rankings debuted on Dec. 7.

The two-time Sac-Joaquin Section Division I champion Huskies (13-3, 2-0) play only their third home game of the season on Friday against Ponderosa (8-10, 0-2) in a Delta River League game, then play defending CIF Northern California Regional champion Bishop O'Dowd of Oakland 6 p.m. on Saturday at Contra Costa College in San Pablo.

No. 2 Jesuit plays at No. 12 Oak Ridge on Friday, then hosts parochial rival Christian Brothers on Saturday.

No. 3 Pleasant Grove plays at No. 14 Folsom on Friday.

In a battle of top 10 teams, No. 8 Bella Vista will travel to No. 9 Del Campo Wednesday in a Capital Valley Conference matchup.

No. 4 Sacramento, fresh off a loss on Monday to NorCal No. 1 Salesian of Richmond, faces a tough Metro Conference double this week. On Wednesday the Dragons travel to No. 19 Valley, then play host to No. 11 Kennedy on Friday.

Valley moved into the rankings after upsetting No. 10 Burbank 48-45 on Friday.

Kennedy, which plays visiting Hiram Johnson on Wednesday, is tied atop the Metro with Sac High at 4-0.
