Boys Top 20: Top-ranked Sheldon beats No. 5 Pleasant Grove

Armani Hampton had 20 points, Dakarai Allen 17 and D'Erryl Williams 14 points and nine rebounds as No. 1 Sheldon defeated No. 5 Pleasant Grove 65-55 tonight in boys basketball game.

The win secured the outright Delta River League championship for the Huskies (22-5, 9-1).

Cody Demps led Pleasant Grove (21-5, 6-4) with a game-high 22 points.

It was Sheldon's second consecutive league championship.

Jesuit (22-5, 8-2), which beat Folsom 82-57 tonight, finished second.

In other games involving Bee Top 20 boys teams:

• Jarvis Watkins and Gabe Bealer each had 16 points as No. 4 Antelope (26-1, 10-0) defeated Whitney 59-37 in a Capital Athletic League game. It was Antelope's 25 consecutive win.

• Darin Johnson had 28 points and Theo Johnson 27 as No. 8 Franklin defeated Laguna Creek 71-63 in a Delta Valley Conference game. Barry Ogalue led Laguna Creek with 26 points.

• K.J. Logue had 12 points and Austin Hennen and Tyler Berkness 10 each as No. 9 Bella Vista defeated Casa Roble 63-37 to win the outright Capital Valley Conference title for the second consecutive season.

• Ponderosa outscored No. 12 Oak Ridge 25-10 in the fourth quarter to post a 52-51 Delta River League upset. Chris Synder's game-high 19 points led Ponderosa.

• Lindhurst broke to a 16-5 first-quarter lead and went on to defeat No. 14 Capital Christian 51-38 as both wind up as Golden Empire League co-champs. James Trujillo led Lindhurst with 19 points.

• Alan Kidwell had 16 points, Jordan Broyles 15 and Austin Soldano 11 as No. 15 Del Oro, the Sierra Foothill League champs, downed No. 16 Granite Bay 60-52.

• Manny Trillo's 20 points lifted No. 17 Consumes Oaks (20-7, 10-2) to a 63-44 win over Union Mine to lock up the Sierra Valley Conference title, the first in boys basketball for the Elk Grove school.
