Former Granite Bay track standout Scott Roth has qualified for the IAAF World Indoor Track and Field Championships March 9-11 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Roth, a graduate of the University of Washington, qualified by finishing second in the men's pole vault with a leap of 18 feet, 4 1/2 inches at Sunday's USA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Alburquerque, N.M.

Roth, competing unattached, finished behind Brad Walker, another former Husky, who won with a vault of 19-2 3/4.

As a senior at Washington, Roth won the 2011 NCAA indoor and outdoor pole vault titles. He also holds the Washington outdoor school record of 18-9 1/4.
