Former Rio Linda player Katie Bell, now at Sierra, signs letter

Former Rio Linda High School softball player Katie Bell, now at Sierra College, has accepted a scholarship offer from Simpson University in Redding.

A signing ceremony for the sophomore pitcher was held Thursday at the Rocklin community college.

In her most recent outing Tuesday, Bell posted a two-hit, four-strikeout 5-2 win at Sacramento City College.

Bell has helped Sierra College to a 28-5 overall record and 12-2 mark in the Big 8 Conference.

The Wolverines are in first place in the conference, ranked No. 1 in Northern California and No. 2 in California.

Sierra College coach Darci Brownell recently posted her 500th win at Sierra Colege's helm.
