Fields, No. 10 Roseville beat top-ranked Del Oro 1-0

Kayla Fields threw 125 pitches and went the distance in No. 10 Roseville's 2-1, 10-inning Sierra Foothill League softball win over Rocklin Wednesday.

But she showed no signs of fatigue today in Loomis.

Fields scattered four hits and struck out four in leading the Tigers to a 1-0 win over top-ranked Del Oro.

Fields threw 89 pitches and did not walk a batter for the Tigers (16-7-1, 9-5). Jordan Courage also allowed four hits, struck out five and walked one for Del Oro (17-4-2, 12-2).

Roseville's Naomi Monahan drove in Kalei Levy with the game's only run in the first inning. Roseville won the series between the two, two games to one.

The loss prevented Del Oro from winning the SFL title outright.

No. 2 Woodcreek (19-3, 10-3) defeated Nevada Union 11-3 today to move within a game of the Golden Eagles.

Woodcreek will bid for a co-championship when it plays host to Del Oro in the league finale on Tuesday at Mahany Park.
