Granite Bay qualified as a team and two golfers from Del Oro and one each from Ponderosa and Christian Brothers have qualified as individuals for the CIF State Golf Championships June 6 in San Gabriel after stellar performances in today's NorCal finals at Butte Country Club in Chico.
Granite Bay, the Sac-Joaquin Section D-II and Masters champion, finished third to land the last team state qualifying spot.
The Grizzlies shot 373, finishing three strokes in front of Sierra Foothill League rival Del Oro.
Foothill of Pleasanton won with a 365, one stroke better than Robert Lewis Stevenson of Carmel with a 366.
Alex Gibbs led Granite Bay with a two-under 70. Brandon Baumgarten shot a 72, Jeff Inouye-Wong a 74, Bryan Wise a 77 and Chuck Pedone an 80.
Christian Brothers finished 10th with a 392.
Qualifying for the state finals as individuals from Del Oro are Austin Smotherman, who shot a 71, and Justin Raskin, who finished with a 72. Raskin beat Amador Valley's Zach Smith in a playoff for the last of nine individual qualifying slots.
Ponderosa's Corey Pereira and Christian Brothers' Andrej Bevins also qualified with 71s.
Three out-of-area players, including Armijo's Aaron Beverly, finished as medalists with 68s.
The state finals will be held at the San Gabriel Country Club.
