Bear River's Nielsen qualifies for state long, triple jump finals

Bear River's Kendal Nielsen has qualified for Saturday's CIF State Track Championship finals in the girls long and triple jumps.

Nielsen placed seventh in both events at today's trials in Clovis.

The senior had a best of 18 feet, 5.24 inches in the long jump and went 38-5.5 in the triple jump.

The top nine placers qualify for the finals.

Nielsen hit her best mark in the long jump on the last of three attempts. She hit her top mark in the triple jump on her second of three attempts.

Alexis Faulknor of Serra of Gardena had the top qualifying long jump mark of 19-4.75. Sasha Wallace of Oakland's Holy Names had the top triple jump preliminary mark of 41-7.50.

Another area long jumper, freshman Mackenzie Arnold of River Valley, finished a non-qualifying 16th today with a best of 17-6.75.
