It was mixed results at the trials for Del Oro athletes Casey Wheeler and Brie Simmons earlier this evening in the short hurdles at the CIF State Track and Field Championships in Clovis.
Wheeler qualified in the boys 110 high hurdles but Simmons failed to move on in the girls 100 hurdles.
Wheeler ran the fifth fastest qualifying time of the evening in 14.26 seconds.
The senior benefited from running in the fastest of the four heats.
Kennedy of Richmond's Kenneth Walker ran the top time of the night in 13.81 and Serra of Gardena's Lloyd Siscard the second fastest time of 14.19, just ahead of third-place Wheeler.
Sac-Joaquin Section Masters champion Austin Cramer of Argonaut also qualified for the finals. He ran a 14.24, the top time in Heat Three.
Simmons running in Heat Three of the girls 100 hurdles failed to land one of the top nine qualifying spots with her 14.54. That was the 15th fastest of the night.
Sac-Joaquin Section champion Daje Pugh of Fairfield, running in the same heat as Simmons, had the fourth fastest qualifying time at 13.82.
Sasha Wallace of Oakland's Holy Names had the top time of 13.40 running in Heat One.
