Elk Grove (12-2) Herd roared back to the top last fall and return a fast lineup eager for more, headed by RBs Wadus Parker and Robert Frazier.
Grant (8-4) Pacers are again big, fast and fierce, headed by next monster recruit in WR/S Trayvon Henderson; seek 22nd consecutive playoff berth.
Franklin (8-4) Wildcats field best team with experience, speed, depth, skill, headed by RB/LB Joey Banks; could win the DVC.
Laguna Creek (4-6) New coach Dave Morton returns after long layoff (founded the program in mid 1990s); LB leader in Davonte Castex.
Monterey Trail (4-6) Never large in numbers but always huge in effort under coach T.J. Ewing; LB/FB Sterling Powell a star.
Davis (2-7) Blue Devils have a RB in Winfred Robinson (938 yards) and a WR blur in C.K. Hicks, son to all-time Davis great Marc Hicks, an assistant coach.

Folsom (11-3) New QBs but veteran WRs in Troy Knox and Phillip Carter and ace LB vet in Derek Stiles makes for another title team.
Oak Ridge (7-5) The next great Trojans QB is Jason Samuels (979 yards in 6 games in 2011); loaded lines, big WRs make for high hopes.
Jesuit (5-6) New coach Marlon Blanton installed the run-heavy veer; QB ace Thomas Sperbeck is back as is K Andrew Endicott.
Sheldon (5-6) Interim coach is a classy one in Herbie Berry, a charter coach/teacher at the school; a lot of athletes and speed - again.
Ponderosa (2-8) Bruins vow to end 10-game DRL losing streak; LB star in recruit Jeff Camilli.

Casa Roble (10-3) RB Kody Jones (1,500 yards in 2011) is back, as are a lot of new faces; coach Norm Ryan a playoff regular.
Rio Linda (7-4) Veteran coach Mike Morris has a Bible to lean on, as in RB Lamar Bible (652 yards); TE/DE Riley Smith and QB Dustin Rossiter also expect big seasons.
Christian Brothers (1-9) Addition of assistant coach guru great Dan Carmazzi will boost QB Cade Noon and do-all marvel Jalen Walker.
Oakmont (2-8) Classy coach Tim Moore will look to RB Robert Walton to inject offensive light.
Bella Vista (3-7) New coach Tom Ingles comes aboard after winning 248 games and three state championships in Washington.

Rio Americano (4-6) QB Mark Lyon (1,155 yards in 2011) and WR Zach Suarez lead resurgent Raiders push after passing for 1,155 yards in 2011.
Mira Loma (2-8) Matadors new coach Kirk Anderson has a RB in Joe Hancock (839 yards) and LB Alex Shanlev (135 tackles).
Cordova (1-9) New coach Vance Mueller injects new hope for program that ruled the region in the 1970s and '80s.

Center (5-6) QB Tyrel Anderson (1,135 yards passing), RB D'Juan Bellaire (1,173 yards rushing) and LB Preston Dobbins (115 tackles) are back for another playoff run.
Bear River (7-4) Bruins live to defend, a staple for many title teams in Lake of the Pines, and they have stoppers in Michael Raigoza and Cody Heard.
Lincoln (2-8) RBs/LB Jordan Tayeh and Davis Dykstra return in effort to return Zebras back to PVL top (won league in 2010).
Foothill (3-7) Best 1-2 speed rushing attack in the PVL is here with Dillon Paris (772 yards) and Robert Dotson (594).

Union Mine (5-4) RB Sean Tow (2,217 yards) is ready to amass 6,000 career rushing yards; just missed playoffs in 2011.
River City (5-6) Steve DaPrato returns to prep sidelines for first time since Elk Grove title run in the 1980s; Malik Dumentz had 5 picks in 2011.
Liberty Ranch (9-4) Bryan Golder goes from assistant to head man and targets another league title with QB Jacob Tibbetts (1,654 yards passing) and WR Jake Oliver.
El Dorado (2-8) New coach Joe Volek has a QB Christian Wisniewski (978 yards) to unleash.
Galt (0-10) New coach J.J. Woodward has had coaching success out of area; Joe Vitoria had 6 sacks in 2011.

Yuba City (3-7) QB Taylor Elkins (1,303 yards passing) and RB Nate Vandusen 1,120 yards) lead potent 1-2 attack; LB Anthony Fleenor had 94 tackles.
River Valley (4-6) QB Mark Nelson and WR Jordan Noall return for program that just missed playoffs in 2011.
Woodland (8-3) Is Dillon Milton the next QB ace for the Wolves, who graduated record-setting Dalen Jones? Josh Cardoza averaged 9.1 tackles in 2011.
Pioneer (7-4) Jason Whitfield had six sacks for the Patriots, who expect a playoff return
Natomas (0-10) New coach Jeff Remington has Sacramento State assistant coaching experience; RB Alex Williams returns.

Mesa Verde (4-6) Classy coach Ron Barney has a QB leader in Kyle Worthington and a stopper on D in Jacob Mejia.
Marysville (4-7) Indians are reeling from transfer loss of Cole Hannum to Nevada Union but ready to forge own identity and return to playoffs.
Lindhurst (2-8) QB Anthony Finuf leads the Blazers chances of a bounce-back season.
West Campus (0-10) Have lost 28 consecutive games in endless effort to raise campus and community interest; lot of admiration goes to the players who keep returning to improve.

Sacramento (6-5) Dragons have come of age in recent years, thanks to weight-room gurus and skill players, including QB Josiah Johnson (2,146 yards).
Rosemont (4-6) Newish school has had some nice moments; Tyler Masterson can play QB, punt, defend.
Florin (4-6) New coach Mike Morales has a QB ace in Ben Walls (1,061 yards) and some good runners.
McClatchy (4-6) QB Nick Modar (1,344 yards) a leader, a talent, a scholar; coach Malcom Floyd is an alum.
Kennedy (0-10) Great hire in tireless coach Matt Costa; only two seniors on the roster to kick start new era.
Valley (1-9) Classy coach Dave Filan determined to make the Vikings relevant again; numbers are key.
Johnson (2-8) Warriors used to own the Metro; key is to raise numbers and intrigue on campus.

Foresthill (10-2) QB Tommy Sawyer (1,350 yards) and RB Wes Archbold (814 yards) return for repeat dream season for region that lives for sports.
Delta (6-5) Veteran coach Bob Lee has stepped down, though RB Vince Heffington (1,169 yards) is back for another playoff run.
Woodland Christian (6-5) A new QB and new lead RB take over for departed stars who are playing other sports or moved. WR Kameron Arnold (530 yards) is back.
Valley Christian (1-8) Starving for football success to match other programs on campus, and it starts with returning stoppers Caleb Van Patten and Nick Norwood, who combined for nearly 200 tackles.
Cristo Rey (2-8) QB Javier Castillo returns to lead the newer program to respectability.

Rio Vista (9-3) RB Tanner Webster (1,057 yards) is the top returning back in the league; football tradition dates back decades.
Golden Sierra (5-5) QB Bryson Campbell and LB Zander Mishler keys a Grizzlies charge that nearly missed the playoffs last fall.
Vacaville Christian (7-5) RB Tim Beall also averaged 10.2 tackles a game.
Encina Prep (1-7) Bulldogs usher in yet another new coaching staff; the good news: Encina has had bounce-back seasons before.
San Juan (0-10) LBs Jared Gilliam and Eddie Barragain give Spartans hope.
