Football roundup: Del Campo beats Rocklin in final 55 seconds

Here are highlights from several Week 3 football games that reached us too late for Saturday's newspaper roundup:

N0. 14 DEL CAMPO 21, ROCKLIN 20 in Fair Oaks - Junior running back Austin Brown rushed for three touchdowns, including a four yarder with 55 seconds and Eugene Panasyuk added the game-winning PAT kick as the Cougars (2-2) slipped past the Thunder (1-3). Logan Webb threw three touchdown passes, including two to Spencer Gregg for the hard-luck Thunder.

SACRAMENTO 36, RIVER CITY 31 in West Sacramento - Louis Macklin rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries and had four catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns; Dale Lewis had six catches for 155 yards and two touchdowns; and sophomore linebacker Lonnie Powell had 17 tackles, forced two fumbles and recovered a fumble as the Dragons (2-1) edged the Raiders (0-4).

BEAR RIVER 29, HIGHLANDS 28 in Lake of the Pines - Cody Heard rushed for two touchdowns, including the game winner in the fourth quarter, and Michael Raigoza had 67 yards and two touchdowns and a two-point conversion run on 12 carries as the Bruins (3-0) rallied to top the Scots (1-3). Austin Dowling led Bear River in rushing with 93 yards on 15 carries. Dominiec Fuse had three touchdowns for Highlands, one rushing and two on passes from Cheapell Morris.

COLFAX 34, WOODLAND 7 in Colfax - Tim Rawlins rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries; Michael Wilson threw for two touchdowns; and Henry Freer returned a punt 53 yards for a score in leading the Falcons (2-2) over the Wolves (0-4). Joe Duran rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries for Woodland.

VALLEY CHRISTIAN 40, DELTA 6 in Clarksburg - Cameron Woodside rushed for three touchdowns and threw a 27-yard scoring strike to Teagan Mowry as the Lions (2-2) beat the Saints (0-4). Mowry rushed for two touchdowns.
