Football roundup: Oaks Christian wallops Granite Bay 48-13

Brandon Dawkins passed for two scores and ran for a third and Darick Holmes returned a fumble 96 yards for a touchdown and ran 41 yards for another score as Oaks Christian of Westlake Village cruised past Granite Bay 48-13 tonight in the Battle for Veterans football showcase at Westlake High School in Southern California.

Steve Graber caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Grant Caraway and Colin Brown kicked two field goals for Granite Bay, ranked No. 5 by The Bee.

Oaks Christian, which beat Del Oro 40-0 in Part I of the Battle for Veterans last week in Loomis, is ranked No. 4 in the state by Cal-Hi Sports.

In other games:

#149; No. 13 Cosumnes Oaks 29, Sacramento 19 - The Wolfpack (2-0) came to Oak Park and defeated the Dragons (0-1).

• No. 17 Jesuit 45, Rio Americano 7 at Rio Americano - Ben Parietti rushed for three touchdowns; Austin Gates caught two touchdown passes; and Andrew Hoy kicked a 51-yard field goal as the Marauders (1-0) beat their down-the-block neighbors in front of a spill-over crowd in their season opener. Rio Americano drops to 0-2.

• Golden Sierra 20, Hiram Johnson 19 in Sacramento - Bryson Campbell completed 7 of 12 passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns, both to Cameron Stephens, and also booted two PATs as the Grizzlies downed the Warriors in a battle of small-roster teams. Adam Sewell rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries for the Grizzlies (1-1). Hiram Johnson had 24 players; Golden Sierra 22 players on their respective Maxpreps.com rosters.

• Christian Brothers 22, Vanden 8 at Burbank High School - In moving to 2-0 on the season, the Falcons have doubled their win total from last season.
