Truckee (5-0) defeated Spring Creek, Nev., 34-3 on Friday to tie the Nevada state record with its 41st consecutive victory. The Wolverines also are seeking their fourth consecutive state title.
Truckee, which is located 30 miles from the Nevada border, was a member of the CIF's Sac-Joaquin Section until 1982. But the school was considered too remote and too dangerous to reach, especially during the winter.
However, some of Truckee's league rivals are more than 300 miles away. In winning at Spring Creek, Truckee had to travel 337 miles.
The school plays only one California team this season - league rival South Tahoe Oct. 26.
