Del Campo's Derek Rodigo signs to play baseball at Westmont

Del Campo two-sport athlete Derek Rodigo has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Westmont College in Santa Barbara, an NAIA school, where he plans to pursue a degree in pre-med/physical therapy.

Rodigo, a senior, quarterbacked the football team to a 9-3 overall record and Capital Athletic League championship this fall.

In 11 games, Rodigo passed for 1,432 yards and 11 touchdowns and also rushed for 188 yards and a touchdown.

Last spring, Rodigo, an infielder, batted .378 and drove in 20 runs for a Cougars squad that finished 14-15 overall.

Rodigo will play this spring for new coach Paul Martinez, who has had stellar teams at San Juan, Mira Loma, El Camino and Rosemont.
