Calvin Green rushed for a 49-yard touchdown, caught a 16-yard scoring strike from Ernest Jenkins and intercepted two passes to lead No. 2 Burbank to a 32-27 win over No. 10 Pleasant Grove in today's Sac-Joaquin Section Division I quarterfinals at Burbank High School.
Isaiah Williams had a 59-yard touchdown run and Jenkins ran 61 yards for a score in addition to throwing two touchdown passes as the Titans (12-0) move into the semifinals next Saturday against No. 3 Oak Ridge, the team that knocked the Titans out of last year's D-I playoffs, 30-28.
The game will be played 1 p.m. at Titan Stadium.
Isaiah Saunders rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries and Ian Broom had 89 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries as Pleasant Grove fought back from a 32-14 fourth-quarter deficit to make the game interesting at the end.
After Broom scored on an 11-yard run with 9:03 to play, the Eagles' Deaundre Terrell threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Justin Bias and Chad Phillips made the PAT to close to within five points with 23 seconds.
Pleasant Grove's ensuing on-side kick attempt missed by less than a foot of going the required 10 yards as the Titans eliminated the Eagles (7-5), last year's D-I runners-up, from the postseason.
Pleasant Grove had another golden opportunity when Sedrick Thomas intercepted a Jenkins pass and returned it 64 yards to the Burbank 14-yard line with 3:21 to play.
But the Titans stopped Pleasant Grove on downs at the 11.
Williams, (134 yards, 23 carries), Green (110 yards, eight carries) and Jenkins (110 yards, 14 carries) added to their totals as members of the Titans' 1,000-yard rushing club.
