The University of Nevada has signed Bradshaw Christian basketball player Ashlee Jones and Pioneer baseball player Thomas Galart.
Jones, a 5-foot-9 senior guard, averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.9 steals for the Pride as a junior. She made the All-State Division V third team and was a Bee All-Metro honorable mention selection.
"Ashlee is a three-point specialist who can score quickly and in many ways," said Nevada women's basketball coach Jane Albright in a press release. "She handles the ball well and gets up and down the floor quickly. We expect her to be a combination guard and to contribute immediately."
Galart, a 6-4, 240-pound right-handed pitcher, went 5-2 with 1.17 earned run average last season for the Patriots. He helped Pioneer to make the playoffs and was invited to complete in the Area Code Games and Reebok World Series. He lettered twice in baseball and football.
"Thomas is a big strong pitcher who has tremendous upside and possesses a very good feel for how to pitch for a younger guy," said Nevada baseball coach Gary Powers.
