Youth Shrine Bowl to compete at Hughes Stadium on Saturday

A glimpse of the future with blockers, skill players and tacklers will be on display Saturday at Hughes Stadium in the 17th Youth Shrine Bowl.

The event benefits Sacramento Youth Football and Ben Ali Shriners. Kickoff is set for noon. Crowds in the past have exceeded 5,000 fans.

Some $50,000 was raised last year from the contest that pits youth programs from around the region against each other, from Placer County to El Dorado Hills to Sacramento and Elk Grove.

Athletes and cheerleaders from this event could be selected to compete in the California vs. Florida Youth Shrine Bowl in Orlando next month.
