Nationally ranked Archbishop Mitty tuned up for Saturday's boys basketball showdown at Sheldon by beating Jesuit 64-42 tonight in San Jose.
It was the season opener for the two-time defending CIF Division II state champion, ranked 12th nationally by USA Today and MaxPreps.com. Sheldon, the defending CIF NorCal D-I champions, is ranked No. 16 by Maxpreps.com.
In other boys highlights tonight:
C.J. Wilson scored 21 points and Nifae Lealao 12 to lead Capital Christian past Bella Vista 63-47 and advance to Saturday's championship game of the Del Oro Tournament. The Cougars will play host Del Oro, a 70-51 winner over River City. Jack Huizenga led the Golden Eagles with 17 points.
Sacramento bounced back from its loss to Dublin last night to beat area rival Antelope 59-48 in the Gridley Invitational.
Kyler Joaquin had 18 points and Zach Suarez 17 points as Rio Americano defeated McClatchy 62-57 in overtime.
Clifford Lyles had 18 points and David Straughter 15 as Burbank beat Franklin of Stockton 60-55 in the McDonalds Classic in Stockton. DeSean Parsons' 28 points led Grant over Lodi 68-65 and Cosumnes Oaks beat Bethel 74-38 in other McDonalds games.
Brandon Camacho led five players in double figures as Forest Lake Christian defeated Valley Christian 105-99 in the Pepsi Classic.
Maurice Hale had 18 points to lead El Camino over Nevada 65-64 in the Nevada Union tourney.
