Folsom edges Woodcreek to take title of its own tournament

Edwin Olympio had 23 points and Folsom overcame illness to slip past Woodcreek 57-56 in today's Folsom-Vista del Lago Invitational boys basketball championship game at Folsom High.

Noah Blackwell led Woodcreek with 21 points.

Because Folsom's football team is still playing, the Bulldogs had only eight players available, and three were ill today.

Senior guard Zach Wolking was the MVP and freshman point guard Jordan Ford made all-tournament for Folsom.

Blackwell and Tyler Milani were all-tournament for Woodcreek.

The game was played in the late afternoon so Folsom fans could get to Sacramento State in time to watch the Bulldogs play De La Salle of Concord in the CIF Northern California Open Division playoff game.

In other tournament games, Rocklin beat Del Campo 49-43 for third place; Vista del Lago topped Sierra Valley Conference rival El Dorado 62-54 for the consolation title; and American of Fremont topped Center 42-26 for seventh place.
