Former Granite Bay star Ryan Hollingshead invited to MLS combine

Pac-12 Player of the Year Ryan Hollingshead, a senior at UCLA from Granite Bay, has been invited to participate in the 2013 Major League Soccer Combine Jan. 11-15 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., a prelude to MLS's SuperDraft on Jan. 17.

Hollingshead, a midfielder/forward and three-time all-Pac-12 selection, played in 81 matches during his UCLA career, scoring 16 goals and adding 21 assists.

In addition, the former Granite Bay High School star earned NSCAA All-America honors in this year and was named to the 2011 NCAA All-Tournament Team after leading the Bruins to the College Cup semifinals last season.

This year he started all 19 of UCLA's matches, captained the team to a 13-3-3 record and led the team with 22 points (seven goals; eight assists).

He will join UCLA teammate Fernando Monge as one of 54 NCAA Division I college seniors at the MLS Combine, which will be held at Fort Lauderdale's Central Broward Regional Park.
