Girls roundup: Sophomore has hot hand for Christian Brothers

Kira McKechnie, a 6-foot sophomore post, scored 19 points Tuesday to lead Christian Brothers to a 74-54 nonleague girls basketball win at Rocklin.

McKechnie also scored 30 points in the Falcons' 88-71 loss to state power St. Mary's of Stockton in the Christian Brothers Holiday Classic championship game on Saturday.

In other girls games of note tonight:

• Najah Queenland anchored St. Francis' effective full-court press and had a team-high 15 points as the Troubadours beat Del Oro 54-46 in East Sacramento. West Point-bound Stephanie Geyer had 16 points for Del Oro.

• Lynette Johnson's 24 points helped lift Kennedy over Nevada Union 58-47.

• Janae and Donielle Hair combined for 20 points in Sheldon's 48-38 win over Franklin.

• Dezja James and Avonna Lee combined for 36 points in Pleasant Grove's 70-15 rout of Elk Grove. James is headed to Arizona on scholarship.

• Ashleigh Vandenbrink had 21 points and Emma Stenz 14 as unbeaten Davis (3-0) rolled past Inderkum 75-47.
