Darin Johnson made an immediate impact in his debut today for Sheldon's top-ranked boys basketball team.
The 6-foot-4 wing had 24 points to lead the Huskies to a 65-53 win over Northside of Lafayette, La., in the All-Star SugarBowl Classic in New Orleans.
Johnson, a scholarship signee with Washington, had to sit out the first 30 days of the season under the CIF's new eligibility policy after having transferred from Franklin.
Dakarai Allen added 17 points and D'Erryl Williams and Ryan Manning had nine points each for the Huskies.

No. 14 Roseville 60, West Campus 58, in overtime - Daniel Rios' 20 points helped lead the Tigers past the Warriors. Devan Sawyer had a game-high 26 points for West Campus.
Pleasant Valley 55, No. 15 Oak Ridge 50 - Blake Marchant's 31 points helped the Chico visitors beat the Trojans in their own Trojan Toss-Up tournament in El Dorado Hills. Josh Simms' 16 points led Oak Ridge.
Cosumnes Oaks 57, No. 18 Rio Americano 56 - Alex Van Dyke's 24 points paced the Wolfpack in their win over the Raiders. Zach Suarez led Rio Americano with 19 points.
No. 19 Casa Roble 53, Las Plumas 35 - Eric Stuteville's 16 points helped the Rams to victory in the Dennis Burnum Classic in Oroville.
No. 20 Cordova 74, Laguna Creek 65 - Jordan Roberson had 33 points and Troy Owens 26 to lead the Lancers to their ninth consecutive win. Andre Lewis, playing his first game since becoming eligible, led Laguna Creek with 35 points.
