Girls Basketball Top 20: No. 1 Sac High coasts past Valley

Senior wing Allie Green led 10 players in the scoring column with 15 points as top-ranked Sacramento coasted to a 72-24 win over Valley in a Metro Conference girls basketball game tonight in South Sacramento.

Junior point guard Zonyia Cormier added 13 points and freshman guard Alana Myers 12 for the Dragons (14-2, 5-0), who will play at No. 3 Kennedy on Thursday in a battle of league unbeatens. Valley falls to 3-15, 0-5.

In other games involving Top 20 girls teams reported to The Bee:

NO. 4 PLEASANT GROVE 63, FOLSOM 25 - Dejza James had 21 points and Avonna Lee added 15 to lead the Eagles (12-4, 2-1) over the Bulldogs (5-15, 0-3) in the Delta River League game in Folsom.

NO. 7 MCLATCHY 49, NO. 5 FLORIN 41 - Kelly Kurashige hit two three-pointers, sandwiched between a free throw that put the Lions (16-1, 4-1) ahead to stay 42-41, as McClatchy rallied to beat the Panthers (11-5, 2-3) in a Metro Conference game at Florin.

NO. 13 MONTEREY TRAIL 50, ELK GROVE 23 - Jasmine Redmond scored 17 points and Tiara Webb 12 as the Mustangs (14-6, 3-0) topped the Thundering Herd (8-12, 1-2) in a Delta Valley Conference contest.

NO. 14 RIO AMERICANO 45, CORDOVA 29 - Elizabeth Moulton and Daizy Wilson each scored 11 points, Emily Hansen had 11 rebounds and Samantha Reil blocked five shots as the Raiders (16-3, 2-0) topped the Lancers in a Capital Athletic League game.

NO. 16 DAVIS 78, LAGUNA CREEK 19 - The Blue Devils (16-3, 3-0) jumped to a 24-6 first-quarter lead in rolling past the Cardinals (3-12, 0-3) in a Delta Valley Conference game.

NO. 20 Grant 44, FRANKLIN 43 - Trailing 31-27 entering the final period, the Pacers (10-9, 1-2) rallied to defeat the Wildcats (9-10, 1-2) in a Delta Valley Conference game in Elk Grove. Raynell Lynn led Grant with 16 points.
