No. 10 Placer withstood an 18-point, 17-rebound performance by Foothill's Elisha Anderson to hold on for a 49-48 Pioneer Valley League girls basketball win tonight in Foothill Farms.
Elena Daniel led Placer with 10 points. Freshman Baylee Vanderdoes added nine points and grabbed four rebounds for Placer (19-3, 4-1) just a few days after being offered a scholarship by USC women's coach Michael Cooper, according to her father.
Vanderdoes' older brother, Eddie, a Placer football standout, is being recruited by USC and took an official visit to the school this past weekend.
The 6-foot-3, 310-pounder is considered the fourth best defensive lineman recruit in the country by Rivals.com.
Vanderdoes already has visited UCLA and he's scheduled to take a trip to Notre Dame this weekend and Alabama the next. National signing day is Feb. 6.
