Girls Top 20: Injury, illness force Johnson to forfeit vs. Sac

Top-ranked Sacramento's Metro Conference girls basketball game tonight against Hiram Johnson in Oak Park abruptly ended at halftime when the overmatched Warriors forfeited after a player injured her ankle, then had to be taken to the hospital when she started hyperventilating, according to Dragons coach Michele Massari.

Sacramento was ahead 55-1.

"A couple of others were throwing up," Massari said in a text message of Johnson's players. "It was sad. I felt bad for them....They really played hard in the first half. My thoughts and prayers go to the players that were affected."

Chaya Durr and Allie Green each had 10 points for the 12-2 Dragons, who are 3-0 in the Metro Conference. Hiram Johnson, which has won just one game in five years, falls to 0-3.
