Girls Top 20: Johnson's 25 points leads Kennedy over Florin

Lynette Johnson scored 25 points, including 11 of 12 from the foul line, in leading No. 3 Kennedy past No. 5 Florin 55-44 in a Metro Conference girls basketball game tonight in Greenhaven.

Kennedy, which remains undefeated and in a tie for first in the Metro with top-ranked
Sacramento, led by 18 points, 47-29, with a little more than five minutes to play when a pressing Florin went on a 10-0 run, cutting the lead to 47-39 with 2:40 remaining.

But Kennedy's Alicia Ng hit a jumper from near the foul line and Jessica Lauderdale made two free throws (13-3, 4-0) to end any hopes of a Florin (10-4, 2-2) win.

Sophomore Rhianna Jackson led Florin with 14 points and Deja Conger and Dalayna Sampton each had eight. Katie Lee had nine points for Kennedy, all three-pointers.

Kennedy will play host to Sacramento on Thursday.
