Girls Top 20: Sac, Kennedy, McClatchy win Metro openers

Chaya Durr scored 14 points and Allie Green added 13 to lead top-ranked Sacramento High to a 63-54 win over No. 6 Florin in tonight's Metro Conference girls basketball opener at Florin High School.

Florin's Daijah Joe-Smith led all scorers with 28 points.

No. 2 Oak Ridge 52, Inderkum 40 - UC San Diego scholarship signee Haley Anderson's 19 points led the Trojans over the Tigers in a nonleague game.

No. 3 Kennedy 54, Rosemont 40 - Utah State-bound senior Lynette Johnson's 23 points helped lift the Cougars over the Wolverines in the Metro Conference opener.

No. 4 Pleasant Grove 67, Bethel 49 - Arizona scholarship recruit Dejza James scored 29 points to lead the Eagles past their Vallejo opponent.

No. 7 Nevada Union 78, No. 12 Monterey Trail 46 - Nicole Lierly had 15 points and Sydney Porter and Kaylin Martin 14 each as the Miners beat the Mustangs in Elk Grove.

No. 8 McClatchy 49, Valley 29 - Sophomore Destiny Lee tallied 18 points in the Metro Conference opener as the Lions extended their unbeaten record to 12-0.

No. 9 Bradshaw Christian 69, Golden Sierra 17 - Erika Bean and Briana Barnes combined for 46 points to lead the Pride to an easy Sierra Delta League opening win.

No. 10 Christian Brothers 89, No. 5 St. Francis 50 - With Dominique McNeely leading four players in double figures with 18 points, the Falcons coasted past their parochial school rivals.

No. 14 Rio Americano 62, Casa Roble 31 - Emily Hansen's 14 points led the Raiders in their romp over the Rams.

Woodcreek 45, No. 17 Antelope 30 - The Timberwolves topped the Titans in this nonleague matchup.

No. 18 Rocklin 60, Whitney 37 - Lydia Summers had 24 points to pace the Thunder.

No. 20 River City 58, Vista del Lago 47 - Katie King's 19 points helped the Raiders to win the Sierra Valley Conference opener.
