American River College players moving on to D-I programs

Three area high school football standouts who played this past season for Valley Conference co-champion American River College are moving on to the next level.

Offensive tackle Nick Kelly (6-foot-3, 280 pounds) from Casa Roble, has signed with Arizona State; running back Devontae Booker (5-11, 200) of Grant will play at Utah; and wide receiver Joey DePalma (6-1, 195) of Ponderosa will stay close to home and play at Sacramento State.

A handful of other ARC players are moving on to major-college programs.

They are:

• Offensive lineman Josh Tremblay (6-3, 285, Vintage-Napa), Fresno State.
• Linebacker Samson Faifili (6-0, 240, West Valley City, Utah), Kansas.
• Safety Zane Petty (6-1, 190, Corning), Illinois.
• Offensive lineman Cody Gochenouer (6-4, 285, Napa), Liberty University.

ARC, which finished 8-3, tied Fresno City College for the Valley Conference title, then lost 41-36 to City College of San Francisco in the Northern California Community College championship game in November.

The Beavers finished No. 17 in the final JCGridiron Dirty 30 national rankings.
