D-I girls playoffs: Kennedy-Oak Ridge rematch set for semis

No. 2-seeded Oak Ridge and No. 3 Kennedy, last year's Sac-Joaquin Section Division I finalists, will meet again, but this time in the girls basketball semifinals next Thursday at UOP.

Kennedy defeated No. 6 Davis 71-56 in Greenhaven behind Lynette Johnson's 25 points and Jessica Lauderdale's 20 and Oak Ridge topped No. 7 Monterey Trail 52-37 as Haley Anderson had 23 points for the Trojans.

Last year at Sleep Train Arena, Kennedy beat Oak Ridge in overtime for the title.

In other games tonight, top-seeded St. Mary's of Stockton beat No. 8 Pleasant Grove 94-54 in Stockton and No. 5 Armijo defeated No. 13 St. Francis 76-54 in Fairfield.

The defeat comes one day after St. Francis knocked No. 4 Nevada Union out of the tournament with a 50-42 win in Grass Valley. The game had been postponed a day because of weather concerns in the foothills.
