D-III girls highlights: No. 8 River Valley wins in overtime

Aleqse Hawkins had 17 points and five steals and Taylor Massengale 15 points, 16 rebounds and nine blocked shots as No. 8 River Valley defeated No. 9 Weston Ranch of Stockton 65-62 in overtime in a Sac-Joaquin Section Division III girls basketball playoff opener tonight in Yuba City.

River Valley will now move on to play top-ranked Christian Brothers in Oak Park Thursday.

NO. 1 CHRISTIAN BROTHERS 81, NO. 16 NATOMAS 19 - Sammy Earley led four players in double figures with 19 points as the Falcons walloped the Nighthawks in Oak Park.

NO. 3 RIO AMERICANO 56, NO. 14 CERES 13 - Daizy Wilson had 16 points, six assists and five steals and Emily Hansen 14 points, 10 rebounds and four steals as the Raiders won their 18th consecutive game.

NO. 5 PATTERSON 68, NO. 12 OAKMONT 61 - Kelsey Caudill's 17 points wasn't enough as the Vikings lost on the road.
