D-IV boys playoffs: Colfax, Liberty Ranch, Mesa Verde, Encina and West Campus all advance to quarterfinals on Friday

All the area higher seeded boys basketball teams advanced as expected on their home courts in the opening round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoffs Wednesday night.

Here's a look at those highlights reported to The Bee:

NO. 1 COLFAX 75, NO. 16 HUGHSON 50 - Will Buell's 24 points led the Falcons to an easy win in Colfax.

NO. 4 LIBERTY RANCH 75, NO. 13 MARIPOSA COUNTY 48 - Michael Meserole had 20 points and five assists and Matt Hagen had a school record 19 rebounds in the Hawks' win.

NO. 5 MESA VERDE 69, NO. 12 AMADOR 61 - The Mavericks jumped to a 45-25 halftime lead en route to the win in Citrus Heights. Jordan Marques led five Mavericks in double figures with 17 points.

NO. 7 ENCINA 75, NO. 10 RIPON 60 - Datwon Bryant's 25 points led the Bulldogs to victory.

NO. 8 WEST CAMPUS 73, ESCALON 63 - Conor Garber had 22 points and Devan Sawyerr added 18 for the Warriors.
