Granite Bay football players to play at the next level

Granite Bay senior JR Calton will be a preferred walk-on this fall as a long snapper at Hawaii.

"JR is a three-year varsity player for us and one of the best long snappers I've coached in 32 years," said Granite Bay coach Ernie Cooper.

Cooper also reports that Tyler Arneson, the team's Most Valuable Defensive Lineman and Most Inspirational Player, will play for Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash.

Both were All-Sierra Foothill League first team for the CIF State Division I Bowl champions.

They will join Grizzlies' All-State linebacker Beau Hershberger in playing at the next level. Hershberger is expected to sign Wednesday with Nevada.
