Sierra College players headed to four-year schools

Two former area high school players, Foothill's Devante Bond and Inderkum's Vince Mayle, will sign NCAA Letters of Intent from out of Sierra College, reports coach Jeff Tisdel.

Bond, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound defensive lineman and Valley Conference Defensive MVP, will sign with Miami. He had a conference-leading 17 sacks, which also ranked third in the state.

Mayle, a 6-4, 220-pound wide receiver and Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year, will sign with Washington State.

Mayle caught 61 passes for 984 yards and scored a state-leading 16 touchdowns.

Two other Sierra College players, both former Nevada state preps, also are moving on to four-year programs.

All-conference 6-4, 245-pound middle linebacker Luke Arciniega will play at Syracuse and all-conference 6-3, 225-pound inside linebacker Broc Westlake will play at Idaho.

Westlake had 92 tackles; Archinega 87.

Sierra went 5-6 this season.
