Woodcreek ranks No. 7 in Cal-Hi's first state softball rankings

Woodcreek ranks No. 7 in the state and No. 3 in Northern California in Cal-Hi Sports' preseason softball top 20.

The Timberwolves went 26-4 last season and won the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II championship.

Returning for veteran coach Art Banks is No. 1 pitcher Amanda Horbasch (13-4, 0.96 earned run average) and the team's top four hitters - Jenna Curtan, Nicole Miller, Lexi Wilkerson and Frankie Orlando.

Elk Grove, which finished 20-7 last season, is ranked No. 15. Defending D-I section champion Sheldon is a bubble team.

Pacifica (28-3) of Garden Grove and last year's Cal-Hi State Team of the Year Norco (31-2) is No. 2.

Amador Valley (26-1) of Pleasanton is the top NorCal team at No. 3 and James Logan (29-1) of Union City is next at No. 5.
