Barnes, James lead South teams to Optimist game wins

Sacramento High's Joseph Barnes had 24 points to capture team MVP honors and lead the South over the North 113-105 in tonight's Optimist All-Star boys basketball game at Center High School.

Casa Roble's 6-foot-10 Eric Stuteville, a Sacramento State signee, had 21 points in earning North Team MVP honors.

Pleasant Grove's Arizona-bound Dejza James took team MVP honors with 17 points in leading the South girls over the North 85-58. Washington signee Brianna Ruiz of Del Oro was the North MVP with 16 points.

The two fund-raising games featured some of the area's top graduating seniors.
