Senior Andrea Lutz threw a perfect game as William Jessup University defeated Concordia University-Nebraska 5-0 in game two of a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Kathy Lund Park.
While the Warriors scored five runs in the third inning, Lutz shut down all 21 batters she faced in seven innings. She gave up no hits, no walks and finished with nine strikeouts.
Lutz, a native of Oakdale, improves to 8-4 with a 2.01 earned-run average.
It's the second perfect game in school history, but first complete seven inning perfect game, according to Jeff Bussell, William Jessup's sports information director.
Kara Besseghini threw a five-inning perfect game in a 14-0 win over Bethany University in 2010.
With a 7-1 victory in game one, William Jessup is off to its best start in school history at 18-8.
