Kayla Fields did a little bit of everything today as No. 6 Roseville defeated top-ranked Rocklin 4-2 in a Sierra Foothill League softball game in Roseville that dropped the Thunder into second place in league.
The loss also snapped Rocklin's 13-game winning streak.
On the mound, Fields scattered six hits, struck out nine and walked one. At the plate, the South Dakota State signee homered and drove in two runs.
Naomi Monahan added a double and RBI and Taylor Brewster-McDowell a single and RBI for Roseville (13-6-1, 5-3). Mallory Asaro went three-for-three with a double for Rocklin.
The Tigers' win, combined with No. 2 Woodcreek's 9-6 triumph over Granite Bay, enabled Woodcreek (13-6, 7-1) to take a half-game lead over the Thunder (14-2, 6-1) in league.
Woodcreek plays at Rocklin on Wednesday.
