Woodland High Hall of Famer to coach Pioneer football

Former Woodland High and Oregon football standout David Collinsworth is the new Pioneer football coach.

A member of the Woodland High School Hall of Fame, Collinsworth replaces Matt Bryson, who stepped down after three seasons to spend more time with his family.

Bryson went 19-13 during his tenure, including 4-6 last season.

Collinsworth, 42, teaches at Lee Middle School in Woodland.

He most recently was the head coach at Le Grande High School in Oregon, where his team finished 3-6 in 2011.

He's also had head coaching stints at Esparto and St. Helena and was an assistant coach at Sheldon.

"Really excited to have a hometown coach," said Pioneer athletic director Scott Stephens in an e-mail.
