Bella Vista hikes boys college soccer signings to eight

Add three more Bella Vista boys soccer players who are expected to move on to play in college this fall.

Signing letters of intent were Justin Childs with BYU-Hawaii, Mark Caliguire with Dominican University in San Rafael and Billy Baker with Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass.

That makes eight NCAA signees for coaches Zack and Matt Contreras from last fall's Sac-Joaquin Section Division II championship team.

Seniors Trevor Jackson (Sacramento State), Preston Davis (Sacramento State), Tyler Miguel (UC Riverside), Stefan Sarkovich (Holy Cross) and Galen Herron (Dominican) signed earlier this year.

All were key members of a Broncos team that went 20-0-2 and beat Turlock 6-5 in a penalty-kick title match shootout in Stockton.

Davis, a defender, was named the Capital Valley Conference MVP. Team scoring leaders Jackson (25 goals, 15 assists) and Tyler Miguel (20 goals, nine assists) joined Childs, Caliguire and senior Matt Waldron on the all-league first team.

Zack Contreras said Waldron has been accepted at Sonoma State, but he's uncertain if his midfield leader will play soccer for the Rohnert Park school.

The seniors helped Bella Vista to finish 37-3-4 during the last two seasons, including a PK shootout section championship win over Granite Bay in 2011.
